Although i mentioned that previous post would be the last post for MYCT
however after experiencing AB Camp
i feel that there's a need to blog.
There are seriously many personal stuff that i didn't get to say
or rather don't wanna say during the group sharing.
So i might include it below.
AB Camp is a leadership camp that is very different from other camps
For me, this is the first leadership camp that i ever attended
and i really spoke out alot during the camp
and from the note that instructor Gary gave me,
he said that i'm interactive and expressive person.
If you know me really well right.
I'm only "interactive" and "expressive" person infront of those people whom i'm close with.
Even some of my groupmates think that i'm really quiet when they first saw me.
I guess what really changed me was the differences in campers.
In this camp, all of us are leaders,
so right from the being we are already those that can speak out anytime.
However for normal level-based camp, there are both the introverts and extroverts
and there are bound to be uncooperative people in your group.
But for us, i think for every group sharing, all of us really voice out.
It was 5D4N not for no reason.
We had like 7 workshops in total.
It was dry and boring, but i got to interact with 20/12 and 25/12 class leaders.
I guess it was really essential for all the workshops
and we had to just plan and run a service learning project that we got today
and execute it the next day.
It was utter craziness and we chop chop and got things rehearsed and settle in 1 night.
My group game was chosen for the SL project
so me and 3 other group members were station masters
and our target group was childrens(pri 1-6)
and if you know me, i hate childrens.
I nearly went bonkers to control them.
But i think our games run out quite successfully and it was a enriching experience.
I went for Dragon Boating on the second day.
It was fun and group 4 tried out a new way of d.boating.
We did it with our eyes close and no shouting.
All we rely on was listening by our eyes.
This method was actually very effective and we can row further.
There are 2 horrible groups who came to both side of our boat and splash water at us
we the pitiful chickens struggling to dodge away from the water got wet totally..
Which 2, shall remain unknown...
Hahaha! Actually i not sure is which groups lah.
I only know one of them...
but nevermind, we all got wet at the end :D
Day 3 we headed to Labrador Adventure centre(LAC)
we tried out their high elements and low elements.
The high elements was fun.
I climb the pole and actually overshoot for about 3 storeys or higher
and cross from one end to another.
There are like car wheels and strap hanging in the air for us to cross
I think it wasn't scary for me cause i didn't look downwards...
I had a short scream because i thought i didn't step on the strap properly
but it was fun lah..
Our whole group tried at least 1 high E obstacles each!
It was super well done!!!
Had some low E games such as acid river, trollies and climb wall
not illustrating cause need to try it out yourself.
I think the most important thing was teamwork
we crossed the acid river while singing as a group.
Hahaha!
Day 4 head back to school for more workshops
and to prepare for Night Expedition.
Had a mini gossip session after we woke up from nap and bathe.
It was a high morale night, when i finally saw Coke
and we Yum Seng with Mr LEE(P)
P.S. First day we had salted Milo(believed to be added in deliberately)
We left school at 10.11pm, walked and walked.
It was ok at the start but after wallking for more than 10 km
we really start to get exhausted
and the last 10 km was like walking through hell.
The road were not straight and we were all so exhausted.
Jia Qi and i start holding hands and singing.
It was a useful method to make us be distracted from our sore legs.
Guys infront and behind us were laughing cause we were super out of tune.
and we actually sang for 2 hrs + without repeating the songs.
We took group photos at 2+ am in the morning on the bridge
and below was the reservior that we had our dragon boating.
It was a really difficult to explain,
but the atmosphere was really 温馨
The journey was tiring and i needed people to push me forward when i reached checkpoint 8.
It was already 3+ am in the morning
We had a mini self-reflection there
and when i think back about the 4 days, all that we have been through
my tears started rolling down.
I wen to take tissue and my instructor thought i not feeling well
but actually i'm not..
We finally reach the end-point Marina Bay Sands(MBS) at 4.09am.
We took about 6 hours to go from AJC(YCK) to MBS - 20 km
We were all too exhauted and after some shifting
we all slept outside MBS
if you went today morning you will see hundred of ajc campers sleeping.
I lie down and slept from around 5 to 6+.
The last time i close my eyes it was dark.
When i woke up, the sky is really bright.
Imagine who will sleep in a bunch outside MBS
and wear tee-shirt and shorts to go in MBS
Some incident happened for other groups but they still managed to pull through.
On the bus me and Jia Qi shed tears lah..
We both thinking about the stuff that happened these few days
and soon we will all be parted etc...
After that back school was all packing and washing up.
We had a AB Camp graduation ceremony at the audi
we took AB Camp crew photos
all teachers,SIs and Campers
after that was lunch and last debreifing session.
I controlled my tears hahahaha!
We did our last game, last song, last cheer, last goodbyes.
AB Camp 2012 really impacted me alot.
You will only feel it if you are the camper.
First day report tio tekan
Second day morning last few campers late by 1 min, we all did pumpings.
Portion of food on first day was just nice to feed a 4 year old kid.
Girls can't take it, what about guys who have even larger appetite
Salty Milo on the first day when everybody anticipated for it.
Rice was uncooked right up till the last day and it always got stuck in my oesophagus
the washing point system was damn "eewwww"
Sleeping time was only 5 or lesser hours each day
but why we all still love AB Camp?
That's the awesome part of all that is indescribable.
Few phrases that i'll rememeber.
1. Yes Instructor LITO
2. Permission to eat Instructor Jensen
3.Group 4/Campers drink up.
4.Push on.
5.Careful/小心
Our 3 awesome instructor: Zi Qing
(She have the motherly aura-guys said that)
She really cared for us lah, some stuff that Instructor R told us. Ryan
Awesome instructor who really takes care of us, taught us alot, repeated reminders etc.. Gary
I think he abit blur. HAHAHA!
